Women's health is something I care about deeply. Maybe it's because I've had to deal with these issues personally and within my own family. When I first became aware of the numbers of women who were affected by peri and post natal depression I felt the need to help.
Also with Menopause it's hard to believe that 80% of women will have some level of depression during this period. So I have made Women's Health a focus.
PERI AND POST NATAL DEPRESSION
Peri and post natal (pre and post baby) anxiety and depression
Having a baby is a massive change in your life and it is understandable that you may need support and help with this major adjustment.
It is important to find yourself again and to be able to get the most enjoyment you can during this challenging time.
You have every right to enjoy this time and I want to help you do this.
Sometimes fathers can suffer
depression and anxiety and also need help.
MENOPAUSE
Menopause and peri menopause (peri means the years and months leading up to menopause).
Menopause can be a time with many changes to adjust to, while some women glide through it, others get difficult symptoms that go beyond hot flushes such as ‘menopausal’ depression and anxiety, irritability, feeling unloved and lonely, weight gain, aches and pains, change in sex drive and enjoyment of sex and more. Support during this time can make all the difference.
Peri menopause can also be difficult with similar problems to menopause.
* I recommend that you read Jean Kittson's wonderful book titled "You're Still Hot To Me. The joys of menopause". This book, apart from being very funny and very reassuring, has well researched comprehensive information and covers the pre menopausal stage as well.
FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS
Parenting issues can come up at any stage of your children’s development, and you may need help and support to go forward with confidence.
It may feel as if you need to be a magician to cope with family demands, work and the never ending domestic chores. Finding time for yourself or time with your partner can be left behind in the hectic pace of your life.
Couples can find their relationship has changed over time perhaps due to family, work demands or through differing needs.
Some employers expect workaholism, and sometimes the workplace can be a place of avoidance of the difficulties at home. Infidelity, job insecurity, money issues, grief and loneliness are some of the many things that you may be facing and needing help with.
BEING A CARER
Family adjustments to illness, dementia and the extra time and energy needed to support this. Typically this will often fall to the daughter or younger sister.
Life can be full up dealing with one's own schedule let alone caring for another. Added to that is the growing issues around dementia. Understanding what a loved one is going through and how to best deal with it is important for your own mental health.
Grief and loss, understandably we often need support and help to deal with the pain, even when we have had months, sometimes years to prepare.
